Every lesson is a short run of steps you take one at a time: watch or read, then answer a question and find out straight away whether you've got it. On our video courses, that usually means a video with written notes under it, often followed by a quick question.
A lesson is a few short steps
Read or watch a step, then press Continue. When a step asks you something, answer it and press Check, and you'll see straight away whether you were right and why.
Press Continue on the last step and the lesson is finished. You'll see the XP you earned, how many questions you got right first time and how long it took, with a button to your next lesson.
Most of our courses are taught by video. Video lessons and written notes explains how those lessons are put together.

- Number 1: The question.
- Number 2: Pick an answer.
- Number 3: Check marks it straight away.
The kinds of question you'll meet
Which ones you see depends on the course and the lesson. In plain words:
Multiple choice: pick one answer, or every answer that applies when it says so.
Pick the better example, or a scenario: choose the stronger version, or what you would do at work.
Fill the blank: type a short answer. Capitals and punctuation don't count against you.
Matching and sorting: tap a definition, then its row, or pick a bucket, then tap what belongs in it.
Estimate or poll: give your best guess or your opinion. There's no wrong answer.
Flashcard: tap to flip it, then mark Knew it or Review again.
Reflection: write a few lines for yourself. They save to your notes, which only you can see.
Short answer: write two or three sentences and the OBA Tutor marks them against a checklist. It's an AI, so now and then it may get a mark wrong.
Practice, checkpoints and help
Questions inside a lesson are practice. Get one wrong and you'll see why, with a hint and another go, and nothing you do in a lesson counts against your certificate. See Practice questions, hints and second tries.
Each module ends with a checkpoint, and the course ends with a final assessment. Scoring 80% or more on the final assessment is what earns your certificate. See Checkpoints and the final assessment.
The OBA Tutor sits beside every lesson and knows which one you're on. It explains, hints and quizzes rather than handing over answers, and like any AI it can be wrong, so check anything that matters. Everything is self-paced: stop whenever you like and pick up where you left off.
